Do NOT leave them until later.
Why?
Because your almost-2-year-old (if you happen to have one) will pull all the clean dishes out of the dish drainer, pile them into the sink, dump the oatmeal bowls you lazily left sitting out on top of them, and fill the sink with water.
and you will smile as you wash dishes with her, because she is so cute when she's so proud of herself for helping you!
